The Acorn Resale Shop Needs...
You!
Interested in Volunteering at The Acorn?
Volunteers are the heart of our store and make it possible for us to fulfill our mission: helping kids find life outdoors at Camp Roger and Camp Scottie.
Each time you volunteer:
- Get a first look at new items
- Meet new friends
- Support a great cause
- Get 20% off your entire purchase that day!
Volunteers can be retired folks, small groups, students, church groups, college students, husband/wife teams, best friends—you name it.
Younger volunteers 14 -16 years old and up may work without an adult.
Volunteer roles can include sorting items, pricing items, stocking the store, greeting customers, cashiering, leadership roles, and more. Whatever it takes to make the store run!
If you are interested in volunteering and want to schedule your orientation, complete the Volunteer Interest Form at the link below and we will get back to you.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at The Acorn. We can't do our ministry without your help.
Join our Tuesday night crew for Tuesdays @ The Acorn!
This new evening volunteer service opportunity is available every Tuesday beginning September 17 with two shift options at 4:00-6:00 pm or 6:30-8:30 pm. Perfect for students (14 and up), people with a heart to serve who aren’t available during the day, and families looking for a service opportunity together. Kids ages 14 and up may volunteer on their own. Children 9-13 may volunteer with a parent (for each child).
Start your journey at an Open House on August 27 or September 3 between 4:00-7:00 pm. At the Open House, you’ll get a tour, receive guided volunteer instructions, eat refreshments, and even shop at the store. We can't wait to meet you!
Adopt-a-Garden at The Acorn:
The Acorn Resale Shop has 14 landscape beds that need to be maintained to keep the outside of our store looking beautiful. Would you or a small group consider adopting one or more of these gardens? Use your green thumb to help The Acorn by weeding, sprucing up, and caring for your garden for one year - spring, summer, and fall.
- Initially, you would choose the garden. In subsequent years, you would have the first choice to keep that same space.
- Spring, summer, and fall maintenance will be expected for the garden (typically, one or two days per season) - feel free to work around your schedule!
- Written guidelines will be provided for your specific garden.
- Water, hoses, and sprinklers are available when needed. Other gardening equipment is also available. Preen/mulch are provided.
- We will send you friendly, seasonal reminder emails.
Once you begin your gardening commitment, you will receive a volunteer coupon worth 20% off your purchase each season.
The Acorn will provide a recognition sign in your garden with your name or your group's name. Receive the satisfaction of helping kids find life outdoors!
